Sovereign Avenue's
2011-2012 Teacher of the Year!

|
Teaching has been my passion since I was a little girl. I feel blessed that I have been able to live my dream for 17 years now. To reach that goal, I attended Rutgers University for my undergraduate studies. Upon graduating I taught in Mt Holly for 6 years. We moved north where I taught in Princeton for 6 years, during which time I earned my Masters Degree at Rowan University. We moved locally in 2004. I’m very grateful that I was able to begin teaching at Sovereign Avenue School soon after. I taught 3rd grade for 3 years and currently teach the System 44 Reading Intervention Program. I reside in EHT with my husband and 3 boys Gregory (12), Nicholas (10) & Zachary (7). My family and I are very passionate about the environment, which lead me to become an advocate here at Sovereign as well. I’m very excited about our grant from Atlantic City Electric and our new Energy Team. When I’m not teaching, I love to spend time with my family, read, and shop! I’m looking forward to many more rewarding years here at SAS.

Ms. Williams:
Her class was working on the state of New Jersey. The students created and edited their own videos for their report about the state. They also used rubrics as part of the assessment process. The students created excellent videos.

Ms. Butler:
Ms. Butler uses (Holt McDougal Online) http://my.hrw.com/ extensively with her classes to provide differentiation with her students and to support curriculum learning goals. There is also an area where students write online and the website scores it. Ms. Butler would be happy to help you if you would like to use this resource too.
